Change of Name

£50 + VAT Scheme
It comes as a surprise to many people to learn that it is not illegal to use
an alias. If you wish to call yourself Long John Silver you may do so! However
you may run into difficulties in obtaining bank or building society accounts
in that name or having your passport, driving licence or any other official
document changed to that name.
If you wish to change your name it is a comparatively simply process. Forenames
and surnames or both can be changed within a straight forward deed.
To change your name(s) a document called a DEED POLL is prepared. It is signed by you in both your old name and new name.
The basic requirement of change of name is to be able to prove the change. One method is to enroll the Deed with the Central Office of the Supreme Court. However we have found that all that is required is that you keep the original deed safe and certified copies of the document can be sent to banks, building societies, passport office, driving licence authorities etc and your name can be changed officially on all documents.
It is within the power of a parent/guardian to change the name of his or her children in the same way.
Before completing such a Deed you should think about what you are about to do and think through all of the consequences. While it is not impossible to unravel a situation it can prove troublesome. Think also about the effect of your changing your name on other members of your family e.g. your parents.
If you are married but wish to change your surname to one different from your husband, he will have to sign the document.
If you are satisfied that you wish to change your name, all you need to do
to progress is to click the following link to e-mail
